Technology has brought us new options for facial rejuvenation. Ultherapy® is one of them.
Ultherapy is a four year-old technique that improves upon previous technology to non-invasively rejuvenate the face. The concept uses safe ultrasound (think of the ultrasound used to determine the sex of new pregnancies) where two separate ultrasound beams are focused at specific depths under the skin to tighten and lift the neck, jawline and elevate the brow. There is no anesthesia required, no incisions and no recovery period. Results have lasted over a year. These are not surgical results but there is no surgical risk, costs or recovery of surgery either. It is indicated for patients who want something to rejuvenate their face but are too early to justify surgery or don’t want to commit the time and money to a standard facelift. We are evaluating Ultherapy at Graper Cosmetic Surgery now so look for updates in the near future. Offered Exclusively in Charlotte by Dr. Robert Graper, F. A. C. S.
(Charlotte, NC) – Noted Charlotte cosmetic surgeon Dr. Robert Graper announces the addition of ZO® MEDICAL to his extensive line of medical grade skin care products offered at his fully accredited cosmetic surgery practice located in the SouthPark area. ZO® MEDICAL is the latest technology by Zein Obagi, M.D. The line consists of 11 quality products featuring breakthrough delivery systems and advanced patented technologies targeting all facets of aging skin, pigmentation, enlarged pores, redness and acne. The range of products and protocols were designed to bridge the gap between therapeutic treatments and daily care. This system raises the bar by treating the skin at every layer so it is more resistant to age-related changes.
“After testing Dr. Obagi’s latest line of medical skin care products on several patients, I saw the positive results received on many ages and skin types,” says Dr. Graper. “I also respect that ZO® MEDICAL is only offered under the supervision of a medical doctor,” continues Dr. Graper. “My patients love the improvement in their skin after being on a ZO® MEDICAL protocol designed for their skin,” says Dr. Graper.
Two of the most popular products are BRIGHTENEX™ and RETAMAX™. BRIGHTENEX® is a non-hydroquinone skin brightener and correcting crème. Featuring oleosome technology—microspheres of naturally occurring, antioxidant-rich emollient oils and vitamins—combined with delayed release 1% retinol and melanin inhibitors—BRIGHTENEX® targets hyperpigmentation without irritating the skin. RETAMAX® is an active vitamin A mircroemulsion that triggers the natural formation of collagen. It combines 1% retinol with antioxidant buddleja plant stem cells and biomimetic proteins to trigger the natural formation of collagen and strengthen the skin barrier. Additional ingredients of vitamins C and E protect and brighten skin while reducing inflammation.

CONSIDERING BREAST AUGMENTATION?
New Technology Eliminates The Guesswork
By Dr. Robert Graper
Breast augmentation has been very popular procedure for over 40 years. For American women it makes the female figure sparkle in and out of clothing. One of the challenges for patients is to decide what size they want to be and what implant size will achieve that goal. The Vectra imaging system has solved that issue. The Vectra is a three-dimensional imaging system that uses multiple high resolution images to create a 3D image of the patient’s chest viewable at any angle. It then measures important landmarks to define the symmetry of the breasts and their pre- surgery volume to within 6% accuracy. The system can then place multiple different implant sizes and styles and compare all the new images side by side with the pre-op breast appearance. This helps patients determine which size is best for them. Vectra can also put their new shape in various swimsuits or work out tops to see the effect of the surgery. There is nothing like this system to take the pressure off getting the size right and that makes the entire process fun and easy.

Cosmetic Surgery vs. Non-Surgical Procedures
What is right for you?
By Dr. Robert Graper, F.A.C.S.
Last year there were 12 million nonsurgical cosmetic procedures done in the U.S. alone. For patients wishing to improve their appearance they have two effective options. They can choose a surgical approach which generally is more effective and long lasting but has more cost, more discomfort and requires more recovery time than nonsurgical procedures such as Botox or fillers. Nonsurgical modalities are ideal for patients that have smaller cosmetic issues and don’t have the inclination to devote the time or resources to the problem. Botox is great for someone with wrinkles around their eyes and forehead that needs to look refreshed for a special event in several days and can’t spare the time to have a brow lift. The effects will last 3-4 months and can be repeated as needed. It is probably the wrong long term option for someone who hates the lines on their forehead and has fallen brows that make them look much older and tired than they really are. They would be better off with a brow lift and eyelid procedure that does a much better job of rejuvenation and lasts twenty years or more. So plastic surgeons listen to their patients concerns, examine them to determine the nature of their concerns and then give them short and long term options to address these concerns. It’s always nice to have options and there is almost always something that is safe and will reliably produce a good result. It is always important to seek the consultation of a doctor who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
