Cosmetic Surgery vs. Non-Surgical Procedures

Last year there were 12 million  nonsurgical cosmetic procedures done in the U.S. alone. For patients wishing to improve their appearance they have two effective options. They can choose a surgical approach which generally is more effective and long lasting but has more cost, more discomfort and requires more recovery time than nonsurgical procedures such as Botox or fillers. Nonsurgical modalities are ideal for patients that have smaller cosmetic issues and don’t have the inclination to devote the time or resources to the problem. Botox is great for someone  with wrinkles around their eyes and forehead that needs to look refreshed for a special event in several days and can’t spare the time to have a brow lift. The effects will last 3-4 months and can be repeated as needed. It is probably the wrong long term option for someone who hates the lines on their forehead and has fallen brows that make them look much older and tired than they really are. They would be better off with a brow lift and eyelid procedure that does a much better job of rejuvenation and lasts twenty years or more. So plastic surgeons listen to their patients concerns, examine them to determine the nature of their concerns and then give them short and long term options to address these concerns. It’s always nice to have options and there is almost always something that is safe and will reliably produce a good result.
